Your Votes...

Keep 'em coming!

It's still all tied up!

I have to make my final decision by this afternoon!

I think that God is playing a joke on me. I'm a completely indecisive person. So I asked others to vote and make the decision for me. And guess what? He gave me a tie! Haha! That way I'd still have to make my own darned decision!

Hope you had a good weekend. Happy Father's Day to the dads out there!

I've had a lot of fun getting everyone's commentary and votes! It makes the process seem more fun and less daunting. Makes me think about girlie stuff like colors rather than the reality of the wheelchair. I mean, it's really important that it match my clothes and my complexion, right?

Thanks to all of you loyal voters!!!!

Blessings,
Emily

heya em....congrats on your approval letter! i'm SO glad that MA didn't give you any trouble; that would have been ALL you would have needed when the process/ decision is already such a mixed bag. but moving on re: your color choices. my chair is actually the exact same blue opal that you're considering; i do really like it & would have no problem with you picking the same shade for yourself (which i'm only specifying at all b/c i'm having a vague recollection of you emailing me to ask me if i would mind us being chair twinkies? or perhaps that was re: the style & not color? either way...)
that said, however, the blue opal wasn't & isn't my vote for you. i'll explain. i voted for two of the choices: blue velvet & razzleberry. and i did take the time to go to the quickie site to look at the swatches; obviously the online shades aren't exact but they gave me an idea for the shades i wasn't already familiar with. so....why the votes for blue velvet & razzleberry? b/c - in my humble opinion - they're the shades that are most "you"; i simply can't think of you w/out there being some element of purple &/or pink, ya know? and those options are the two that have some shade/ element of a pink or purple to them.
in conclusion (and to make it sound as if i'm writing a grade school paper) i don't think you'll go wrong with any of your choices. in the end the color won't stand out as much as you might think going into the process b/c in reality the colored parts of the chair are minimal; if i had to put one of your "final choices" last it would probably be the turquoise...not b/c i don't like it but b/c it's significantly lighter than any of the others and, as such, will show more wear & dirt, as well as being the most obvious and thus the most likely to at some point grow tired of (&/or - since you brought it up - perhaps feel like you should concern yourself with needing to match your chair). if you do want to see a more complete pic of the blue opal & don't have a pic of me in my chair (b/c i think you already do?) let me know & i'll send it your way asap.

and here's the continuation/ completion of my ramblings:

speaking of which i AM super sorry that i never did email you re: more of the chair specs. part of the reason was that when you started to lean toward the rigid chair a lot of the specs are in fact different such that i was going to have to do a bunch of research rather than be able to give you info that i already knew. but i am sorry that i didn't at least tell you that instead of leaving you hanging. but of course part of it was also just my day-to-day inability to keep up with all i intend (& would like) to be able to manage. the one thing i will comment on - hopefully not problematically &/or confusingly so this late in the game - is the choice of wheels. my wheels pop off the exact same way as those on the chair you're getting & i would definitely recommend against any solid tire options, though i'd be surprised if the dealer would be pushing you in that direction in the first place. i have pneumatic tires w/ spokes & they've been totally fine...don't need to be filled too often, quite sturdy/ versatile on diff surfaces, etc. oh - and re: casters, or rather caster size, i've been happy with my "middle of the road" choice, so to speak, aka 5" (solid) casters..the idea being to strike the balance between maneuverability (tougher with larger options) and stability (no tipping) as well as not getting stuck (i.e. castor "falling"/ sinking into a sidewalk crack), something that's much more likely with smallest options, i.e. 3".

oh my...i suppose i should have written all of this - or most of it - in an email rather than in a "comment" (ha!) here. sorry about that. i suppose it's better somewhere than nowhere? or maybe not at this point. quite honestly do not hesitate to ignore any/all of these ramblings, esp. if they add to confusion.

if i'm truly honest with myself though - and with you - i can't see miss emily with a chair (or rather with anything for that matter) that doesn't have at least an inkling of purple of pink so that, in the end, is the case i have to make for my color votes. (and while i know it goes against the poll results, if i had to pick just one color to vote on for you it would be the razzleberry. it just seems the "most emily" for lack of a better explanation...though the blue velvet is a close second in that regard....)

love ya,

though i am not sure if there's any space left for any more comments after melissa has written here ; ) i would like to add something about the wheels. as it is a bit technical (for me to think of the right words in english at this time)i'll keep it simple. when my quickie was delivered it came with the front wheels in a different quality than the big wheels. i would like you to know that the wheels that can be filled for me are a MUST. frontwheels that cannot be filled are a big nono on cobbled streets of which we have A LOT here in the netherlands. they make me dizzy and give me a headache (i think they are used in strollers as well and now i do feel very sorry for all those poor babys!!!). also, about choosing colors and matching with clothes etc. i would like to stress, that NO i am NOT superficial but it is sooooo much fun talking other stuff than just medical that i really really LOVE it. hope this helped you emily, and do do do enjoy choosing your new wheelchair!!!!!
love,
corina :)
