As many of you know, Miss Rebekah has been a caregiver and massage therapist for me for quite a while now. During our time together we have gotten to be quite the talkers (imagine that! :)) and have shared a lot.
Recently she had a baby, so I haven't seen her for about five weeks now. I admit to going through 'Rebekah withdrawal'. I'm so used to seeing her on a weekly basis. She's the first friend I've gotten to see on a weekly basis during pregnancy which was so much fun, especially getting to feel the baby kick!
She gives amazing massages. She is incredibly skilled at helping me to organize, strategize, make things more accessible, etc. Without her my new room would never be what it is. She is wonderfully empathetic, kind, compassionate, generous, and loving. I always enjoy our time together--even if we are sorting piles of papers! When she would come for my weekly massage we always talked for 30-45 minutes before we even got started on the massage part of things! We may have to work on that if she comes back to do massages when Kale is a little older!
She won't be coming back to help with caregiving jobs such as organizing and such, but she may come back to do massages if she feels that she can manage.
Now she's on a new journey in life: that of mommy!
Today Rebekah came over to visit with her little boy, Kale, who is just four weeks old.
Isn't he cute?! Rebekah is really rocking it as a mommy! I love watching her on this new journey, and I am so incredibly grateful that she made the effort to come over here for a visit. Plus, we got to catch up while Kale snoozed.
He slept in my arms for about forty-five minutes! The key is don't stop rocking him! The moment I would stop, he would fuss (he is a little bit of a fussy baby according to Rebekah).
The last two weeks have been pretty wretched medically. I finally felt like I started to turn around today and was able to enjoy her visit. And I was strong enough to sit up a bit and hold Kale.
Tonight, Mom and I topped off the evening with a long wheelchair ride. The weather is perfect, everything is blooming, and we all (Asher included) enjoyed the fresh air.
My spirit needed this day. Thank you Rebekah and Kale for feeding my soul. Thank you Mom and Asher for the lovely ride in the chair. Thank you G-d for this most glorious day of flowers, sunshine, and fresh air. And for the gift of a better day health-wise! I think this may be how Sabbath should feel--family, friends, and nature's perfection in all of its glory.
Blessings,
Emily
