Happy Halloween from the Alexandras!

Well, I had my dose of Halloween Happiness today.  Miss Alexandra (below) stopped by as Ginny Weasley (in an awesome costume made by Anne!). She and I cast a spell with our wands in the photo below. Here's to Harry Potter magic.

Later this evening, during trick or treat, another little Alexandra stopped over dressed as a very adorable penguin (above).  She gave me a 'tour' of her Halloween goodies. Lots of lollipops this year, it seems.

It's a good day when I see some of my favorite neighbors! Thank you to Anne, Celeste and 'the Alexandras' for making an extra effort to stop by to see me. It is soooo appreciated.

Hope you had a Happy Halloween!

Blessings,

Emily

Cake and Comparisons

So, I admit it. I was NOT looking forward to another birthday. I used to love my birthday, but ever since I turned thirty it's been a not-so-subtle reminder that life isn't quite what I had expected or wanted it to be.

In the end, I usually end up having a decent birthday. And this year was no exception. I also made a point to focus on the love and friendship and support in my life that always surrounds me, especially around my birthday. I didn't focus on the number 33.

I had a birthday that exceeded any expectations I could have had...and I can't wait to blog about it more! Still, it was made a little sweeter this week when Mom and I were looking at some pictures on my computer.

She saw an older picture of me in bed, in my pajamas, eating cake and her, having just come home from teaching, next to me. Dad and Abbie were in the room with me. I said: "That was my 30th birthday. Remember I could hardly get out of bed that year?" Mom made a slight gasping noise and said, "Wow, I don't even remember that." Here is the picture below:

This is one of the very first pictures taken with my digital camera (as I had just gotten my first one from Dad and Abbie that day). So, I knew immediately that if the photo was on my computer it was from post-digital camera days.

Sometimes I wonder if we're making any progress with the Lyme treatment. The changes seem so tiny. I keep wondering (almost daily) how much better this can ever get.

And then God sent a little reminder that showed me in a very concrete and tangible way that things have improved and I have made progress. I may be a turtle, but it's certainly a better place at 33 than it was at 30.

The picture/video at the top is how I spent my 33rd birthday having cake. What a difference! You'll likely need to go to my blog itself to actually view the video (www.adancinglight.blogspot.com).

Maybe getting a little older isn't so bad after all.

Blessings,

Emily

Up and Running (My Computer, That Is!)...Thank You Scott!

Aaaah, it feels good to type from my dear Dancing Light computer again.

Thanks to our neighbor Scott (and his family for giving up time and other household chores he could have otherwise been doing instead of fixing my computer for me), my computer is up and running again.

I really don't know why it crashed again or how in the heck Scott managed to save everything, but I am truly grateful.

I'm not even quite sure where to start with my writing--blogging, emailing, etc.! And, I never thought I'd admit that Facebook was a nice way to stay in contact with folks when I could only check my mom's computer for a few minutes a day.

Hopefully, I'll be able to get to blogging again, although energy has been very, very sparse lately as I embark on yet another med trial.

I just wanted to touch base with the outside world again! I missed you all!

And, a HUGE shout out to Scott for fixing this darned thing! What a mess I got him into.

Blessings,

Emily
